'Astronaut' released today for The Busk Record

Last week, Dublin Simon Community and creative partner Collective Films launched The Busk Record, an album featuring performances from Irish artists including Bono, Glen Hansard, Lisa O’Neill and many more.

Today, they release the album’s lead single

‘Astronaut’ by Damien Rice with accompaniment from Glen Hansard & Rónan O’Snodaigh, which is available now across all digital streaming platforms.

The Busk Record is available to preorder now from www.thebuskrecord.com and will be released on Friday 9th December 2022 on vinyl at a cost of €27.95 with proceeds going to Dublin Simon Community to help people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Dublin and the surrounding counties.

The recording of The Busk Record was captured over two nights in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin in December 2021, when a host of artists came together to lend their talents to Dublin Simon Community as Covid restrictions meant the charity’s annual Christmas Eve Busk couldn’t happen in-person. The Busk 2021 was streamed on YouTube on Christmas Eve last year, with individual artists being supported by The Busk Choir; an assembly of artists, crew, Dublin Simon staff & volunteers and service users who were present at the recording.

The Busk Record, which runs at 49 minutes and 8 seconds in total and retails at €27.95 with proceeds going to Dublin Simon Community, is a double-sided 140g vinyl made from zero waste ecomix recycled PVC, with a gloss finish 505 micron PEFC certified board sleeve. All artists have given permission for their music to be used to raise vital funds for Dublin Simon this

Song for Berta EP & Video - OUT NOW

EP available on streaming services.

Click here to watch the video with English text, or click here to watch it with Spanish text.

As the trial is ongoing in Honduras, we add our voices in support of Berta Cáceres and others like her who are extraordinarily dedicated to helping

humanity to protect what's precious on this planet: Life. They took her life thinking that they could silence her. Instead her voice grew louder as more people spoke up. We are adding our voices to those voices and the ones that come after us. Thank you Bertha Zúñiga Cáceres, Berta's daughter, for inspiring me to be more active.

Thank you JFDR, Sandrayati Fay & Josh Wilkinson for the song. Thank you all those who sent in their voices to be part of the social media choir on the song. Thank you Ólafur Arnalds, Masterkey Studios & Markéta Irglová for the help and studios. Thank you Lea de Valmi for the painting, and DM Stith for the graphic design of the EP. Thank you The Fake Pan for the cartoons & Erin Wajufos for animating them for the video. Thank you Copinha, Amnistía Internacional Américas and all at Amnesty International & Art for Amnesty for their help in making this happen. And Thank You Berta Cáceres for being brave enough to inspire us to live more courageously!

All proceeds go to Copinh.org, the organisation founded by Berta in

Song for Berta (Live at the Cabin) - VIDEO OUT NOW

In honour of Berta Cáceres's 50th birthday, Jófríður Ákadóttir (JFDR), Sandrayati Fay and Damien Rice wrote a song inspired by Berta's life and work.

Berta was a Honduran environmental activist and indigenous leader who was

murdered in 2016.

The injustice of her death feels like it became an emblem of strength for community to gather with unwavering defence in support of what she believed in, with a call for humankind to wake up to the importance of the protection of the environment.

All proceeds go to Copinh.org, the organisation founded by Berta in 1993

'Song for Berta EP' will be released on streaming platforms on the 28th of April,
